FAQ

how early should I place my order?

a week or two is ideal for most custom orders. please allow a few days to receive your order confirmation as i’m often in the kitchen.

if you’d like to commission larger cakes for an event, please place your order at least a month in advance. last minute event commissions will be subject to a rush fee.

do you make wedding cakes?

chariot makes wedding cakes, event cakes, and cakes for films / productions / exhibitions. feel free to inquire!

larger tiered cakes start at $12 / serving. if you have a tiered cake in mind that’s not available on the custom order form, email me for custom sizes.

do you have a storefront?

no! chariot is a cake project run by a single person out of a home kitchen. for me, making cakes is sculptural, divinatory care work, tailored to your energy. everything is made in small batches with as little waste as possible. i do pop ups on occasion and you can keep up with upcoming events on my instagram.

do you deliver?

delivery is available throughout LA starting at $20. my fee is based on travel time + distance from my kitchen and back. you can also reserve a pick up time for your cake -- you’ll receive the address once your order is confirmed.

how do I transport my cake?

the safest way to transport a cake is on a flat surface to minimize movement. i recommend placing your cake on the floor of the vehicle or directly in the trunk. keep the car as cool as possible and take care to avoid direct sunlight. on especially hot days, i like to pack my cake box in an insulated grocery bag with gel packs wrapped in butcher paper or newspaper to absorb any condensation. you can also place your cake box (it measures 12x12x6 in) inside a larger lidded box and surround it with gel packs to keep your frosting from melting.

should I refrigerate my cake?

chariot cakes are made with perishable ingredients and require refrigeration. please take your cake out of the fridge an hour to an hour and a half before serving to allow the frosting to soften. it’s much more delicious this way! for food safety, do not leave your cake at room temp for more than 2 hours. once sliced, try to consume your cake within 48 hours for maximum freshness - it helps to wrap your cake in plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out. note for cakes with custom meringues: meringues will soften in the refrigerator and may become sticky. before chilling your cake, you can gently remove the meringues and place them in an airtight container; carefully reposition the meringues when it’s time to cut the cake.

can I choose my own flowers?

you can request custom florals on your order form for an additional fee. please remove them before serving your cake as they are only decorative. i can source edible flowers for you upon request and am always happy to suggest edible and/or non-toxic alternatives to any flower you’d like on your cake. large stems will be placed in floral tubes for safety.

do you ship cakes?

at this time, my cakes are only available in + around los angeles. due to the delicate nature of my cakes and their many floral / plant components, i do not ship cakes. that said, if you have access to a food space and would like to invite chariot to pop up in your city, please get in touch! i’d love to hear from you.
